Welcome back to Studio 23! As you may have noticed, there are a lot of new faces around here... most importantly, Ms. Rita Szigeti. It is our honour to be the first school in the state to host an international art teacher as part of the Fulbright Teacher Scholarship program. Mr. Scaglione will be teaching art in Kaposvár, Hungary for the year and Wheat Ridge High School will have the great fortune of having Ms. Szigeti take over in Studio 23 for the year.

Ms. Szigeti received her fine art degree from Eszterházy Károly College in Eger, Hungary. She worked as a designer for a printing company and has been teaching art at a secondary school for the last seven years. Her appreciation for, and great knowledge of, Impressionism and the importance of European impact on contemporary art in the States will surely offer a unique perspective for our students... and a wonderful opportunity for our community to embrace cultural exchange.

The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the US government and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and teh people of other countries. Recipiencts of Fulbright grants are selected on the basis of academic of professional achievement, as well as demonstrated leadership potential in their fields. The Program operates in over 155 countries worldwide.

Stay tuned for upcoming projects and happenings in and around the studio this year... Please visit the calendar to keep up to speed on due dates, events, and show openings, as always. And, lookout for the full documentary of the FRESH 23 Fashion Show (May 2010) in the coming months...

I am excited for the opportunity to learn from, and about, new cultures this coming year. I look forward to growing as an artist, a teacher, and a person... and in turn, bring all of my new experiences and knowledge back to Studio 23 in 2011! I wish all of you a wonderful year in Colorado and I encourage you to take full advantage of this unique opportunity to learn from an international art teacher... it'll offer you new perspective and expand your creativity in many new ways!

My Best,
Mr. Scaglione.
